Blue Chip Lacrosse April 2011

Why Blue Chip?

There are an increasing number of lacrosse camps offering programs for rising sophomores.  Why should you recommend Blue Chip?

The main reasons are coaching and intensity.  Effectiveness in teaching skills requires both sufficient coaches to reach each player and coaches who know how to teach the game.

We believe the core of our success is our recruitment of strong and effective college coaches.  We recruit coaches all year and place our effort in this area as a high priority.  We look for coaches with a reputation for being strong instructional coaches who build a strong rapport with players.

Secondly, successful instruction requires a strong ratio of coach to player and consistency in instruction.  We ensure this by assigning two college coaches to each player group of approximateley 23 players for their entire camp experience.

By the end of camp the coach has had time to identify and work on areas in need of improvement and to convey to
the player what he needs to do to continue to improve.

The Blue Chip commitment to progress for each player is on the field where it matters.

First I would like to thank you for evaluating your players for consideration for the Blue Chip Varsity and Elite Camps coming up this summer.  We appreciate your confidence in trusting us with your athletes, and we pledge to do our best to build on the skills they have developed to date and send them back to you with the improved skills that an extended period of training can offer.

We have had a phenomenal response this year and there is limited availability in our Rising Junior and Rising Senior programs.  The Rising Sophomore program is likely to be filled in the next several weeks. For up to date availability information click here.

At this point in the season you have had a true opportunity to evaluate your freshman, and should know which players have the potential or ability to go on and play in college.  Some of your Freshman may have surprised you and really demonstrated a high level of ability perhaps even moving up to the varsity.  These players may be elite candidates, and you may also have others who are great candidates for our varsity program.

If you have any referral for Rising Sophomores now is the time to send their recommendations to us. We have limited availability in our Rising Junior and Rising Senior programs.  If you have any candidates for these levels, please drop me a note at tspencer@bluechiplax.com.

Sincerely,

Ted Spencer

Rising Sophomores

Many coaches report that they have outstanding rising sophomores who are suffering from one or more weak areas at their positions.  These deficits will haunt them as they move into the later years of high school and beyond.  Caught early and corrected these players can blossom into the all stars that their talent promises.

At this point in the season you may have identified such players, talented or even gifted, but needing work on weak areas in their game.  This is precisely the type of player our Rising Sophomore Showcase is designed to serve.  Our program design for this camp is focused on intense skill building in addition to team skills development.
Varsity or Elite?

There are two divisions to each Blue Chip Recruiting Showcase: varsity and elite.  Both divisions are invitation only for college bound lacrosse players.

Our Varsity Division is for the lacrosse players who aspire to play college lacrosse.  The varsity Blue Chip athlete is among the best players for his  school team, plays for a strong club team, and includes college lacrosse in his future whether it is Division I, II, or III.  He is a serious lacrosse player and brings determination, self-discipline, and commitment to his sport.  A recommendation from a high school or club coach is required to be considered for this invitation only division.

Our Elite Division is for the player who has demonstrated the ability to play in the top 15 Division I colleges. He has most often been selected for all-star teams, all region and all state teams and in your opinion deserves preeminent consideration by coaches from the nation's top 15 D1 Colleges.   He is a standout in his school, club, region, state or national program.  He is fiercely dedicated to taking his skills to the maximum and has already been identified by his school or club coach as having the skill or ready potential to perform at a national competitive level.  A letter of recommendation from a high school or club coach is required to be considered for this invitation only division. Also required is a complete player profile.
