Coach Spencer's Dining Tips:
(summaries from
Fairfield Weekly)
Archie Moore's Bar & Restaurant
(203) 256-9295
48 Sanford St
Fairfield, CT
|
|
Unpretentious
surroundings strewn with old
Coke ads, a young waitstaff
and clientele and a casual
drinking atmosphere combine
to make Archie Moore's a
great place for devouring
what it's most famous
for—its chicken wings. ($$,

Nauti Dolphin Pizzeria
(203) 256-1877
1 Carter Henry Dr
Fairfield, CT |
|
Nauti Dolphin
occupies a cozy 400 square
feet of the Fairfield train
station. A mostly take-out
operation, it's open daily
from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.,
offering free delivery and
some great New Haven-style
pies. (You can eat there,
too, at one of the four
seats at the counter.) The
menu also offers grinders,
pasta dishes and antipasto.

Circle Diner
(203) 255-9177
441 Post Road
Fairfield, CT
|
|
Features plenty of
grilled and toasty sandwiches, big,
bountiful salads and full-course
entrees, from seafood specials to
big, bad burgers. Add the still
spanking new decor, with spacious
booths, gleaming mirrors and
fluorescent accents, the quick
service and reasonable prices, and
Circle Diner has established itself
as the after-bar, early-morning,
mid-afternoon place to get
re-fueled. They are so
welcoming and kind and their food is
delicious. Not only that but they
are very affordable and family
friendly. I recommend it to all.

Ash Creek Saloon
(203) 255-5131
93 Post Road
Fairfield, CT
|
The Ash Creek Saloon
looks like the kind of place that would serve great
ribs—well-worn saddles, spurs and chaps decorate the
walls and a massive wagon wheel chandelier swings
over the bar. The Creek is renowned for more than
just its ribs; other parts of the cow get special
treatment, too—from gigantic steaks to filet mignon
Angus burgers and beyond. (All Cards)

Ole Mole

(203) 319-7400
3381 Post Road
Fairfield, CT

Mexican folk
art and colorful tiles adorn
the walls of this popular
take-out cocina. Favorite
menu items include the chile
relleno, a fresh poblano
pepper stuffed with cheese,
cilantro and corn, and the
quesedilla Sedona (flour
tortilla filled with
peppers, chevre, grilled
onion, corn and smoked
Mozzarella, served with mole
negro). Reviewer's favorite:
the Vegetariano burrito. Ole
Mole's original spot in
Stamford is tiny; the
Fairfield location
accommodates dining in a bit
more readily with half a
dozen tables and counter
seating. ($, Amex/MC/V)

Quattro Pazzi Cafe
(203) 319-1600
750 Post Road
Fairfield CT |
|
Quattro Pazzi
means "four crazies," and is
humorously named after the
four owners, but amazing
food emanates from this
Italian restaurant. Come
here for the
well-orchestrated service
and classics like polenta
con funghi, vongole
Mediterraneo and
penne con zucca al diavolo.
