Coach Spencer has a long
career at all levels of
lacrosse coaching at the
collegiate level for the
past 18 years including
stints at Yale and Brown
Universities.
Ted Spencer was
the Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach at
Fairfield University for the past
thirteen years before retiring in
July of 2008.
During his coaching tenure at
Fairfield he boasts seven
Championships, three MAAC
Championships (1996, 1997, 1998),
two ECAC Post-Season Tournament
Championships (1998, 1999), and two
GWLL Crowns (2002, 2005). In
2002 and 2005 Spencer’s teams made
appearances in the NCAA Tournament
and finished with a Top 15 ranking
in Division I Lacrosse.
Three times
Spencer was honored as “Coach of the
Year” by his league, MAAC (1996),
and GWLL (2002, 2005).
In 2001, a panel of Division I head coaches selected
Spencer to coach the
prestigious USILA
North/South All-Star game
which showcases the
country’s top Division I
seniors. Major League
Lacrosse also honored him
for being among a select few
to have made significant
contributions to the
development of lacrosse in
Connecticut.
Prior to his time at Fairfield, Spencer held
assistant coaching positions
at Brown and Yale. He played
for UMass-Amherst, where he
stood out as a long-pole
defensive midfielder before
graduating in 1985.
With all his accolades Spencer’s
greatest achievement is that he is a
Cancer Survivor
and a proud father of three
beautiful children Ryan-Elizabeth
(13), Ben (11), and Devin (10) and
husband to his lovely wife and
partner Denise.

Coach
Pressler, who enters his
third year at Bryant, was an
assistant coach for the 2002
U.S. team that won the
International Lacrosse
Federation (one of two
organizations that merged to
form the FIL) World
Championship in Perth,
Australia.
Pressler has had a very successful
career as a
collegiate
lacrosse
coach,
compiling a
229-102
record in 22
seasons.
Bryant has
gone 25-8
under
Pressler
over the
last two
seasons,
reaching the
NCAA
tournament
for the
first time
in school
history this
past spring.
Prior to coming to Smithfield,
R.I.,
Pressler won
more than
150 games at
Duke
University,
leading the
Blue Devils
to 10 NCAA
tournament
berths and a
trip to the
NCAA
championship
game in
2005. He
also had
successful
stints as a
head coach
at Ohio
Wesleyan and
VMI.
