Ted Spencer
President and Director

Coach Spencer has had a
coaching career of more than 20 years at all
levels of lacrosse. Specifically, at the
collegiate level for 17 years including
stints at Yale and Brown
Universities , Ted Spencer was
the Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach at
Fairfield University for
thirteen years before retiring in
July of 2008.
During his coaching tenure at
Fairfield he boasts seven
Championships, three MAAC
Championships (1996, 1997, 1998),
two ECAC Post-Season Tournament
Championships (1998, 1999), and two
GWLL Crowns (2002, 2005). In
2002 and 2005 Spencer’s teams made
appearances in the NCAA Tournament
and finished with a Top 15 ranking
in Division I Lacrosse.
Three times
Spencer was honored as “Coach of the
Year” by his league, MAAC (1996),
and GWLL (2002, 2005).
In 2001, a panel of Division I head coaches selected
Spencer to coach the
prestigious USILA
North/South All-Star game
which showcases the
country’s top Division I
seniors. Major League
Lacrosse also honored him
for being among a select few
to have made significant
contributions to the
development of lacrosse in
Connecticut.
Prior to his time at Fairfield, Spencer held
assistant coaching positions
at Brown and Yale. He played
for UMass-Amherst, where he
stood out as a long-pole
defensive midfielder before
graduating in 1985.
With all his accolades Spencer’s
greatest achievement is that he is a
Cancer Survivor
and a proud father of three
beautiful children Ryan-Elizabeth, Ben, and Devin, and
husband to his lovely wife and
partner Denise.

Mike Pressler
Assistant Director

Mike Pressler, the 2010
World Team Head Coach and winner of the Gold Medal in
Manchester, England, and has quickly established himself
as one of the premier college coaches in the country.
In just his third
season in Smithfield, R.I., Pressler led the Bulldogs
into the Division I ranks
and into a degree of success
that shocked the DI lacrosse
world.
Pressler's efforts and
contributions, not just with
Bryant but throughout his
illustrious coaching career,
were recognized in September
2008 when he was named head
coach of the 2010 U.S. Men's
National Team.
A three-time ACC Coach of
the Year and recipient of
the 2005 USILA's F. Morris
Touchstone Award as the
National Coach of the Year,
Pressler's overall head
coaching record stands at
264-115 in 25 seasons. He
ranks among the nation's top
10 active coaches in both
career victories (No. 8) and
overall winning percentage
(No. 8). Pressler stands at
No. 21 among the most
winningest coaches of all
time (by percentage) and is
No. 12 all-time by win
count.
A 1982 graduate of
Washington and Lee
University in Lexington,
Va., Pressler was a
four-year starter for both
the football and lacrosse
teams. A First Team Division
Kodak All-American nose
tackle in football, a
four-year starter in
lacrosse and team captain
for both as a senior,
Pressler was inducted into
the school's Hall of Fame in
2001.
Pressler was also inducted
into the Wilton (Conn.) High
School Hall of Fame in 1998
and was inducted into the
Connecticut Sports Hall of
Fame in January 2010.
A native of Wilton,
Connecticut, Pressler and
his wife, Susan, live in
Smithfield with their two
daughters, Janet, and
Maggie.
